Run by the Gouri Devi Trust, the college was set up to train teachers close to home for the schools of Sabang and the wider district, rather than send candidates far afield for their B.Ed or D.El.Ed. The three-storey campus at Dasagram houses classrooms, a library, hostel blocks, and an open ground used for sport and assembly.
The college is recognised by NCTE and affiliated to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University (BSAEU) for B.Ed, and to the West Bengal Board of Primary Education for D.El.Ed.
